The Silver Knot Wedding Videographer

If you're getting married at The Silver Knot, you've found one of the Mission Valley's most beautiful wedding venues! I'm Skeeter Johnston, a Montana wedding videographer, and I love filming at this stunning Ronan venue.

The Silver Knot sits on a hillside just south of Flathead Lake, and the scenery reveals the Mission Mountains standing like a painted backdrop behind the venue. Inside, high ceilings hung with chandeliers glow against reclaimed corral wood walls, and expansive windows frame the mountains from nearly every seat. The venue hosts celebrations of up to 160 guests, offers a two-day rental format built for full wedding weekends, and even has a honeymoon cabin on the property. It's the kind of place that gives a videographer variety without ever leaving the grounds!

Below is a wedding film I created for Chloe & Chase, who celebrated their day at The Silver Knot. This is what happens when a wedding celebration meets a venue where the Mission Mountains add that much more to your day. The film captures the real moments, the valley scenery, and the energy of their celebration, exactly the way your Silver Knot wedding deserves to be remembered!

The Silver Knot Wedding Videography FAQs

What are the best ceremony spots at The Silver Knot for wedding video?

The hillside setting is the star here! Outdoor ceremonies at The Silver Knot put the Mission Mountains directly behind your vows, with open Mission Valley sky overhead and nothing blocking the view. Having filmed here, I know how that backdrop reads on camera at different times of day, and I'll make sure to angle your ceremony so the mountains, the light, and the two of you all land in the same frame.

Can you film drone footage at The Silver Knot?

Yes! The open Mission Valley is a fantastic place to fly, and aerial shots of the venue with the Missions rising behind it and Flathead Lake country stretching north give your film a sense of place that ground cameras can't match.

What's the best time of day for wedding video at The Silver Knot?

Evenings are special here. As the sun drops toward the west side of the valley, the light warms across the open ground and the Mission Mountains catch that end-of-day glow, which makes late-afternoon ceremonies and golden hour portraits the sweet spot for film. The big windows also mean the indoor spaces stay bright and natural-looking on camera through the afternoon, so your timeline has flexibility either way.

How does The Silver Knot's indoor space look on film?

Beautiful! High ceilings with chandeliers, reclaimed corral wood walls, and expansive windows that provide excellent natural light and frame the Mission Mountains perfectly. This means the reception space has warmth and depth that a lot of venues need heavy decorating to accomplish. For video, that translates to flattering light on faces and a pleasant atmosphere for your guests.

Can you cover The Silver Knot's two-day wedding weekends?

Yes, and it's one of my favorite things about this venue. The Silver Knot's two-day rental format means your rehearsal dinner, setup day, and celebration can all happen on the property, which opens the door to meet all of your needs: rehearsal toasts, the calm before the day, candid moments between events. Rehearsal dinner filming is an easy add-on, and I'll build the coverage plan around your weekend.

How do you film a full 160-guest celebration?

The Silver Knot hosts celebrations up to 160 guests, and bigger rooms reward preparation. I scout my angles before guests arrive, capture multi-source audio so your vows and toasts come through clean over a full house, and move through the celebration documentary-style so the film feels like the day did: full, warm, and truly yours. The venue's layout keeps getting ready, ceremony, cocktails, and reception close together, which means I miss nothing in between.

Do you charge travel fees for Silver Knot weddings?

None! The Silver Knot is close to home for me, so I do not charge travel fees for weddings here, ever. Your quote covers your coverage and nothing sneaky, with no surprises after you sign.

How far ahead should we book videography for The Silver Knot?

Once your date is locked with the venue, reach out as soon as you can. Summer and early fall Saturdays across the Mission Valley and Flathead Lake area book 4-8 months ahead, and two-day weekend celebrations take a full weekend slot on my calendar, so those go first. If your date is closer than that, ask anyway; there's a good chance it works!
